It has now been eight years for Pink October in Lodi. Our platform has always been focused on creating awareness for the need of early detection for breast cancer. We believe that this is being accomplished.

As we have grown and progressed we have begun to realize the other side of the breast cancer story; women who are in the fight for their life and struggling financially to stay afloat. The stories have touched our hearts deeply which is why the Geweke's Caring for Women Foundation was started in November of 2008. All money raised through Pink October events will go towards helping Breast Cancer Survivors who are struggling with financial needs. We are able to see the tangible results of our efforts by touching these women directly.

The Geweke's Caring for Women Foundation began in 2006 in Yuba City. The foundation has helped breast cancer patients buy firewood to heat their home, pay rent, funeral expenses, car repairs, mortgage payments, PG & E bills, medication and so much more.

This year we will be working closely with our partners, the Ben Schaffer Cancer Institute, Delta Sierra Hematology and Oncology, St. Joseph's Medical Center, Hospice of San Joaquin, Community Medical Centers, Woodbridge Medical Group and American Cancer Society to help identify patients that have financial needs. The assistance will be immediate. Your support will be more important than ever this year.
